Bespoke Product Design for Social Impact Campaign

Whistle Design Group was proud to be engaged by Doyle Dane Berbach (DDB) to deliver bespoke product design, Comfort Zone, a custom board game developed as part of The Line—a nationally recognised campaign by Our Watch, funded by the Australian Government Department of Social Services. The campaign promotes respectful relationships among young Australians through engaging content and real-world activations.

To support this mission, DDB conceptualised Comfort Zone, a game designed to spark meaningful conversations about personal boundaries in relationships. Whistle Design Group was engaged to transform this concept into a tangible product through tailored 3D CAD development and low-volume production—demonstrating our expertise in bespoke product design for purpose-driven campaigns.

Low-Volume, High-Impact Manufacturing

Our design approach included low-volume manufacturing techniques ideal for limited distribution. Locally printed cardboard components were paired with CNC-machined and 3D-printed elements, allowing for rapid prototyping and flexible production. This enabled DDB to test the game with target audiences and create promotional content without committing to mass production.

Designed for Dialogue

Comfort Zone is more than a game—it’s a tool for connection. Each card prompts players to reflect on emotional, physical, and digital boundaries, encouraging open and respectful dialogue. The game fosters a safe, engaging environment where players can explore complex topics with empathy and curiosity.

Bespoke Packaging Design

Whistle Design Group also delivered a fully customised packaging solution for Comfort Zone. From the outer box to the internal layout and custom 3D-printed inlays, every element was designed to reflect and build Comfort Zone’s unique brand identity while ensuring functionality and visual appeal. Our packaging design elevated the user experience, whether during filming or in the hands of players.

Why Bespoke Product Design Matters

This project exemplifies how bespoke product design can bring social initiatives to life. By combining strategic design thinking with low volume production methods, Whistle Design Group helped transform a powerful concept into a tangible, interactive experience that resonates with audiences and drives meaningful change.
