WebGen™ 200 Transmitter

The WebGen™ 200 product suite includes encoded primers, battery packs, and transmitters that work together to deliver precise, remote-controlled blasting. The Transmitter is a standalone unit powered by the WebGen™ Battery Pack, designed to generate magnetic induction signals that activate primers embedded in blastholes. These signals can penetrate rock, air, and water, allowing for reliable initiation without physical connections. The Transmitter’s ability to be remotely operated over the mine’s communication network makes it a cornerstone of automated and scalable blasting operations.

Whistle Design Group’s role focused on refining Orica’s prototype and delivering a robust, field-ready mining enclosure design. We reduced the transmitter’s weight to improve portability and ease of deployment, enhanced internal access for efficient servicing, and introduced multiple handle locations to support safe handling in confined or rugged environments. To ensure resilience in extreme weather conditions, we integrated a custom-designed weather shield that helps to protect the transmitter from exposure to nasty weather conditions.

This project showcases Whistle Design Group’s expertise in mining enclosure design, combining functional engineering with user-centred industrial design. Our collaboration with Orica resulted in a durable, high-performance product that supports safer, smarter, and more efficient blasting practices across global mining operations. The WebGen™ 200 Transmitter now stands as a benchmark in wireless blasting technology, and we’re proud to have played a key role in its development.
