Transforming Homewares Through Industrial Design
Whistle was engaged to develop a brand-new range of “on-the-go” insulated food and beverage storage products. The task was to transform homewares through industrial design. The result was Getgo by Maxwell & Williams. A comprehensive range of portable homewares designed for on-the-go eating and drinking. This new collection responded to a modern Australian market seeking –
- Sustainable options to reduce single-use plastic containers and bottles
- Budget-friendly, fun and playful designs
- Convenient, versatile and family focused food storage solution

Industrial Design Brief & Requirements
Design Brief: The brief was to create a range of “on-the-go” food and beverage storage products that would form a key strategic offering for the Maxwell & Williams brand. The challenge was to develop a clear product identity in line with a family focussed branding strategy. To resonate with consumers, the range needed to be adaptable to match the diversity of modern Australian lifestyles, cater to school, work, and recreation. Along with promoting healthy lifestyles and environmental sustainability.
Design Solution: Our industrial design team responded to the design brief by focusing on function, form, and colour to establish a unique product range and brand identity. Market research, including feedback from Australian households, sales trends, and in-store feedback, was leveraged to deliver a targeted range of options and sizes. The industrial design of these homewares embodies fun and playfulness with soft-edged forms and vibrant colours.
